Dear St. Luke Friends:
On behalf of the St. Luke Parish School community, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our school. We are a cutting edge academic institution rooted in a long tradition of Catholic values.
In 1921 Mother General Samuel of the Sinsanawa Dominicans sent four sisters to River Forest to teach at St. Luke School. The sisters were charged with the mission of providing a challenging education grounded in the teachings of Christ for the Catholic families of River Forest. In addition to the basic school curriculum and religious formation, the sisters provided a comprehensive curriculum in the arts that included music, drama, drawing and choir as part of a standard course of cultural enrichment for the elementary years. The first efforts of those teaching nuns produced nine graduates, thus beginning our proud 87-year tradition.
Today, St. Luke Parish School shares some kinship with the well-rounded education provided by those pioneering Sinsinawa nuns; but our technologically advanced campus and globally-minded student body make it clear that our school is preparing students for an exciting future, using all the best tools that were never before available in our school's long history. Our faculty is committed to providing academic excellence, promoting a strong sense of belonging in our vibrant community and developing integrity and good character in each student. We cherish a safe learning environment in which students, staff, parents and administrators collaborate in the development of self-discipline, respect for diversity, and an ethic of care and concern for others as we guide our students to become citizens of the world.
We provide opportunities for students to realize new skills and talents while remaining true to our original ideals of academic rigor and well-rounded education. Each St. Luke Parish School graduate is a unique product of our philosophy. At the same time, our alumni share a spiritual and intellectual confidence that empowers them to meet challenges and excel in their chosen paths. St. Luke is committed to the concept that a child's education is the product of the school and home. We believe that a strong partnership between school and your family will result in success for our children.
I hope that you will discover the St. Luke Parish School difference. Please contact the school at 708-366-8587 to make an appointment to meet our excellent faculty, enjoy our dynamic student body and take a tour with me.
God bless you,

Principal
