Week of September 16th, 2019
Here is what's happening in room 201!
I will be posting information, every Monday, about what we will be covering during the week. Please be sure to check Mrs. LeBeau's website as well for science and math information. Please be aware that test dates are subject to change.
Religion- This week the students will continue to focus on the story of Noah's Ark. Join us this Wednesday for mass. Mass will begin at 8:30 A.M. Students will also be learning the Prayer of St. Francis. This will be a prayer we will say every morning. We will end the week by using a magazine called "Venture." This will prepare the students for Sunday's mass readings.
Mrs. McSorley will also be presenting a lesson on "The Beatitudes" to the students.
Reading- Students will contunue to use the Journeys reading series this week. They will be introduced to the new vocabulary for the story, "The Power of WOW." Other skills include: story elements, readers theater fluency, and comprehension. The students will take a test, on this story, this Thursday. The test will consist of multiple choice questions and an essay question.
Students received their September 3rd - 30th rading logs on September 3rd. Reading logs will be collected each month and will count towards his/her reading grade.
AUGUSUST READING LOG IS DUE TODAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD.
Students will be given the information they need to go online to access our reading series. The website it www-k6thinkcentral.com. Your child was given their user name and password in class.
Language Arts/ Spelling- Students will be taking the lesson 4 spelling pretest today. If a student receives an "A" on the pretest, they will be given a challenge list to study for the week. Skills covered with be letter combinations that make the long "i" sound, using context clues, and editing skills. Tests this year will be on Thursdays.
Students will be learning how to fix fragments and run-on sentences.
SPELLING WORDS, FOR LESSON 4, CAN BE FOUND ON P. 40 IN THE READING WORKBOOK.
Social Studies- Students have been learning about the causes of the American Revolution. This week we will focus on start of the war, a woman who fought in the war, and George Washington leading our troops. We will be using the website ducksters.com and will be watching the video on Deborah Sampson and George Washington and Valley Forge.
Math- Ms. Mazur's Math Class - Students will be focusing on addition and subtraction of multidigit numbers.
PLEASE PRACTICE ADDITION, SUBTRACTION, MULTIPLICATION, AND DIVISION FACTS AT HOME.
